Founder Financial Infrastructure
Definition
The category of financial infrastructure specific to the needs of early-stage companies, covering the financial models, processes, reporting systems, and documentation required from pre-incorporation through scale stage. Founder financial infrastructure is the subject domain of the FFI Standard. The category is defined by the FFI Standard as the shared framework for what financial infrastructure early-stage companies must maintain and what investors should expect.
Common Misapplication
The most common misapplication is treating founder financial infrastructure as equivalent to fundraising preparation. Fundraising preparation is one application of founder financial infrastructure. The infrastructure itself serves the ongoing operational and strategic decisions of the company at all times, not only during fundraising.
